And the Flyers 14th Pick Is….

With their first pick of the first round of the 2018 NHL Draft, 14th Overall the Flyers took LW Joel Farabee.

Farabee is committed to Boston University and is probably a couple years away from joining the big club.

Given the lack of USHL to NHL direct jumps, an NHL-E rating isn’t part of the Vollman model that is used to frequently project prospects.

As such, there is no official projection tonight, but it will be revisited after his season in the NCAA ends.

Instead, of an official projection, an analysis of his style of game shows he fits a positional role need of the Flyers. He’s a shoot first wing who plays a defensively responsible game. In essence, he’s the perfect Ron Hextall player.

Given the players available at 14, Farabee was a solid pick and Hextall did well, yet again.
