Flyers Comeback to Lose in OT 4-3

In the first game of new GM Chuck Fletcher’s tenure, the Flyers dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to Columbus at the Wells Fargo Center.

Claude Giroux opened the scoring at 5:50 of the first period beating Sergei Bobrovsky.

Columbus tied the game soon after as Anthony Stolarz gave up a soft goal he’d likely want back as Seth Jones beat him. Brandon Dubinsky gave the Blue Jackets the lead later with a deflection goal. Soon after that, the Flyers had a goal called back on an offsides challenge.

Boone Jenner gave the Jacket the 3-1 lead early in the third period. Travis Sanheim scored two goals just over 2 minutes apart to tie the game and send it to overtime.

Seth Jones won the game 10 seconds into overtime.

The Flyers penalty kill went 5 for 5. Anthony Stolarz stopped 26 of 30 shots. The Flyers were out shot 25-11 through two periods, and Stolarz in that time was arguably the Flyers best player.
