Flyers Fire Dave Hakstol, Hire Coach Q

For many Flyers fans, Christmas just came 9 days early as the Flyers fired Coach Dave Hakstol in favor of Joel Quenneville. This comes via a report from Dave Isaac.

After a very disappointing  road trip with games in Buffalo and Western Canada, new General Manager Chuck Fletcher has apparently pulled the trigger on Dave Hakstol’s tenure as head coach of the Flyers.

Dave Hakstol never got to round two of the playoffs in his tenure, which will be remembered for a bottom level penalty kill despite some fairly solid talent. He’ll also be remembered for frequently benching young players for a single mistake, despite letting veterans make the same mistakes repeatedly. Many times, during losses at the Wells Fargo Center this season,

Assuming Quenneville is behind the bench on Tuesday, he’ll have some solid young talent itching to impress him as the Flyers hopefully find a new stride heading into the holiday roster freeze.

There will be more to come once there’s an official announcement as well as any assistant coaching changes.

UPDATE 10:35pm ET

After landing in Philadelphia, the Flyers have denied the move as of now and Dave Hakstol plans to be running practice Monday morning. However, we have this:
