Andre Blake inks new deal with Union

The deal makes the 2016 Goalkeeper of the Year one of the highest paid keepers in MLS.

Per Goal.com, Andre Blake will remain in Philadelphia on a multi-year deal that rewards him handsomely for his stellar play over the last two years. The Jamaican national had drawn attention from European clubs during the transfer window despite having problems obtaining a work permit due to Jamaica’s low FIFA ranking.

While the Union still need a number 10, it’s reassuring to see that they’re willing to open their wallets to keep proven talent on the team, and hopefully a sign that they’re willing to spend a bit more to keep up with a growing, competitive league.
