Breaking: Florida Gators DC Geoff Collins Reported To Be New Temple Football Head Coach

Both AP and ESPN.Com, through an anonymous source involved in the negotiations, are reporting that Florida Gators DC Geoff Collins will be the new Temple Football Head Coach. They are in the process of finalizing the deal, which is why it has not been confirmed yet by either school.

Collins, 45, was the DC at Mississippi State before joining the  Gators for two seasons. He has kept Florida in the top-10 rankings both seasons in Gainesville.

He spent one season (1996) at Fordham in New York and two seasons (1997-98) at Division III Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania early in his career, but the GA native and former Western Carolina player mostly coached southern teams with stops at Georgia Tech, Alabama, Central Florida and Florida International. His initial DC job was at Mississippi State under coach Dan Mullen.

More on this as it is confirmed and of course in my Military Bowl preview coming late next week.
