Breaking: Temple Owls ranked #22 AP #24 Coaches Polls

Temple Owls Ranked

For the 1st time since the end of the 1979-80 season (#17 in the AP) when they went 10-2, (6-0,3-0), the Temple Owls broke into the top 25 rankings in both Polls.  This week after their 30-16 victory over the UCF Knights (TEMPLE DEFEATS UCF) , they are ranked # 22 in the AP poll and # 24 in the USAToday Coaches poll. Said Head Coach Matt Rhule “I’m really proud of our players and it’s a tribute to them that people have noticed how they have played to this point. I am thrilled that we have been able to get off to a 6-0 start. But I’ll repeat what I have said before, it’s a long season and I’ll be happier if we can finish the year ranked among the best in the country.”

The last time Temple started the season 6-0 back in 1974, the Owls cracked the Top 25 only to lose the following week at Cincinnati 22-20. They were not ranked again following that loss until after going 8-1 late in the 1979.  It is important for the team to heed that result heading into their road game @ AAC East contender East Carolina (4-3,2-1) Thursday night.
