Could This be the End of Ruf-o?

In what looks like the beginning of the end of the Darin Ruf experience, all reports say that the Phillies are going to call up Tommy Joseph from AAA Lehigh Valley today. Before today he was leading the IL in BA (.347) and OPS (.981). as well as second in the league with a .611 slugging percentage. In 27 games he slugged  six homers and knocked in 17 runs. He is finally after all his injury problems, mostly 3 seasons w/ concussions that took him out of his catcher’s position,  looking to make good on the trade w/ the Giants for  Hunter Pence in July 2012.
“I’m finally healthy,” Joseph said. “It feels great to have everything behind me. The obstacles last season were much bigger than anyone knew. Not only did I get another concussion, but I had vision issues tracking the ball.”

Joseph is expected to be in the line-up as early as tonight against the Cincinnati Reds LHP Brandon Finnegan.  No roster moves have been made at this posting but all signs point to him replacing Darin Ruf as the LH platoon at 1st and possibly DH in the Interleague games to come.

Stay tuned for further developements in the Tommy Joseph Vs Darin Ruf Saga.

Later Note: Ruf was optioned to LHV.
