The NHL announced on Friday afternoon a three game suspension for Flyers’ forward Dale Weise . The punishment comes one day after Weise landed a high hit on Anaheim Duck’s defenseman Korbinian Holzer. He was not penalized for the hit during the game.
Looking forward, Weise will miss games against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, the Montreal Canadiens (one of Weise’s former teams) on Monday, and the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.
Weise is the third Flyers to be suspended this season, joining Radko Gudas and Brayden Schenn (although Schenn’s suspension came from a hit in the playoffs last season). The timing of this suspension is not ideal, as the Flyers have lost three games in a row after opening the season with a win against the Los Angeles Kings. Although Schenn’s has returned to the lineup, Weise is the second forward to be removed from the lineup this week. The team also announced on Wednesday that Michael Raffl would miss 10-14 days with an upper body injury.
In the absence of these two players, the Flyers will likely place Nick Cousins on the third line and dress Roman Lyubimov for the fourth line.
