Embiid Faces Setbacks – May Not Start Season

The 2014 third overall pick Joel Embiid after missing the entire 2014-2015 season rehabbing his injured right foot has experienced setbacks with his health development. A week ago Sixers fans had pipe dreams of a D’Angelo Russell, Dario Saric, Joel Embiid, and Nerlens Noel led 2015 team. Now those dreams seem unreachable, Saric negotiations are proving to be difficult, Russell may be drafted 1st or 2nd overall, and CBS Sports titles an article “Report: ‘Legitimate chance’ Joel Embiid could miss 2015-2016 season.”

If Embiid is out for the next season, it throws off the entire Sixers plan of rebuilding. Embiid developing chemistry with Noel and other important players is a vital part of the 76ers rebuilding plan. If Embiid cannot overcome his injury woes then this pushes Sam Hinkie’s master plan back a year or two and turns what was thought to be a franchise player into a major bust.

It is being reported that Joel Embiid may not be ready for the season opener; hopefully these setbacks aren’t as extreme as people are making them out to be. It’s a weird time to be a Sixers fan, hopefully Embiid can bounce back.
