Do you enjoy writing and soccer? Come cover the Union with us!

If you’ve got the skills, the time, and the desire, we’re interested in talking to you.

It’s been nearly two years since I came here from Sons of Penn, founded a soccer section, and started covering the Union for Pattison Ave. We added Brett Krasnov and Michael Dempsey to the coverage team last year, both of whom do outstanding work. This year we added a photographer, Frank Fimmano, who lends his amazing camerawork to our coverage. Now, as we continue to grow, we’re looking to add another writer.

As a credentialed writer for us, you would have access to the Union press box, press conferences, training, and the locker room after matches. Along with being in the press box, live tweeting the match on the Pattison Ave account and writing a recap for some home matches, you would write previews for some matches as well as recaps of away matches, along with any other articles you may be so moved to write. You’d be expected to act professionally (this means dress appropriately, no autograph requests and no cheering in the press box, among other things). If this would be the first time you’ve covered sports (or even if it isn’t), Brett, Mike, and myself work as a team, and we’d be happy to get you up to speed on the ins and outs of everything.

If you’re interested, send an email with your contact information to pattisonavenue@gmail.com with the subject “Union coverage”. I’ll get back to you within a couple days so we can talk and see if you’re a fit. Ideally, we’d like to have the new writer in position to cover the final home match of 2017, which is October 22nd against Orlando City.

Good luck to you, and maybe we’ll see you there!

-Jay Davenport, managing editor
