On a cold night in Philly the Flyers beat the Stars 2-1 in OT.
The game started rather chippy, as in the first minute Claude Giroux and Jamie Benn would be assessed matching roughing minors after a melee in front of the bench area. They, and several other Flyers and Stars, would jaw repeatedly throughout the evening.
Gemel Smith scored his third goal of the season, after Remi Elie beat Radko Gudas to a loose puck in the corner, Elie flipped the puck to an open Smith who pushed the puck past Flyers goalie Brian Elliott to give the Stars a 1-0 lead.

During an Antoine Roussel minor, Sean Couturier would introduce himself to Dan Hamhuis, shown above, earning a minor penalty that cancelled out the man advantage attained by Philadelphia. Later, Devin Shore would return the favor for the Stars by tripping a Flyer.
However, despite the early powerplays, Dallas controlled play in the first period and took a 1-0 lead into the room.
In the second period, the Flyers would get enough shot on the powerplay and Shayne Gostisbehere would tie the game on a powerplay goal off a backboard rebound from a Jake Voracek shot. Ghost tucked the shot short side between the arm and body of Stars goalie Ben Bishop who was visibly frustrated with himself after the goal.
Heading to the third, the Flyers would be unable to convert a pair of powerplays as Smith and Alex Radulov would each find themselves in the box.
In overtime, the Flyers would get another powerplay as Radulov again would sit in the box. This time, after a fluky deflection where Ben Bishop would lose his stick, Ghost would win the game with his second goal of the night. With assists on both goals, Jake Voracek now has 33 on the season.
