Flyers Development Camp: Roster & Schedule

It’s that time of the year again as the Flyers management team get set to host their horde of prospects. This season’s edition of Development Camp/Trial on the Isle should be even more interesting than usual. Attendees will include several young men with legitimate chances of cracking the NHL line-up; Oskar Lindblom, Mike Vecchione, and Travis Sanheim to name a few. Not to mention a recovering Nolan Patrick who sadly won’t be available for on-ice drills.

All on-ice training sessions (Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone) will be available for public attendance (via nhl.com/Flyers). The training will be overseen by John Riley (Player Development), Kjell Samuelsson (Player Development), Brady Robinson (Goaltender Development), and new addition Brett Hextall.

Brett, son of Flyers’ General Manager Ron Hextall is a former AHL farmhand himself, bringing 260 games of AHL experience to the table. Just 29-years-old it looks as though he’s starting his career on the management side of the game having retired from the AHL in 2014.

Flyers’ Development Camp will culminate with the annual trek to Stone Harbor, NJ. The Trial on the Isle is a family-friendly event and fundraiser that benefits Veteran’s Haven South. The V.H.S. program is designed to help homeless veterans get back on their feet by finding them accommodations, giving them medical attention or treatment, and educating them for work in a new field.

No schedule has been released for the Trial just yet, but basing it on last year’s event here’s how the day may play out. Last year fans were treated to watching prospects like Travis Sanheim run around the beach with an ice cream cart trying to sell the most Fudgie Wudgies.
