Flyers End Preseason with 4-1 Win in Boston

The Flyers ended the preseason slate of games with a 4-1 win in Boston.

Taylor Leier got the Flyers on the board in the first period. Michael Raffl had two goals in the third period and Wayne Simmonds added one of this own.

Brian Elliott stopped 26 of 27 shots, allowing only a goal to Ryan Donato which was a screened deflection on an initial shot from David Pastrnak.

Misha Vorobyev finished the preseason with 2 goals and 5 assists after adding a pair of helpers during the preseason finale against mostly an NHL caliber lineup. He looks to have made the team with rosters due for the season opener soon. This likely leaves Jori Lehtera and Dale Weise as being the odd player out. Lehtera’s potential legal troubles may factor in this decision.

On defense, Mark Friedman played a solid game while Phil Myers looked a bit nervous. It’s still likely that Myers didn’t lose his spot on the depth chart to Friedman yet, but Friedman’s played himself into long term consideration to being an NHL player eventually. Hopefully Friedman excels in a top pair role on the Phantoms and continues what he showed today.

All in all, the Flyers seem to have settled their preseason battles and all that awaits is the final roster.

THe season begins in Las Vegas on October 4th.
