Flyers Fall to NYI 4-2

We’re doing the numbers again with the Flyers 4-2 loss.

2: Goals scored by the Flyers. Robert Hagg and Shayne Gostisbehere had them.

4: Goals scored by the Islanders. This means they won and the Flyers lost.

4: PIMs wrongly assigned to Robert Hagg. The officials had a game similar to the Flyers, unable to execute basic skills pertaining to the task they are assigned. For the Flyers, it was clearing the zone and maintaining puck possession, for the officials it was several missed penalty calls.

36: Saves, on 40 shots, for Carter Hart who was once again peppered, at times, excessively. Shot suppression should be something Chuck Fletcher looks to address this off season.

With this regulation loss, the Flyers playoff chances have all but evaporated. The hole they dug themselves into early in the season is just going to end up being too deep. The Flyers had no margin of error for a day like today, and with Washington on the quick turn around tomorrow they absolutely must come up with 2 points to keep their faint hopes alive.
