The Flyers went to another shootout, their eighth of the season and lost to the Flames 3-2 taking a point in the shootout loss. Flyers coach Alain Vigneault continued his tough, but fair treatment of veterans scratching Shayne Gostisbehere for Robert Hagg.
The first period was fairly uneventful and lacked rhythm with many whistles. Jake Voracek got the scoring started in the second period when he poked home a puck that had trickled through Flames goalie David Rittich. Travis Sanheim was credited with an assist for taking the initial shot.
The Flames tied the game early in the third on an Andrew Mangiapane goal.
Late in the third, the Flyers took the lead when Joel Farabee poked a puck from behind the net, past Rittich who left his crease to Kevin Hayes in front for a tap in goal to the vacated cage.
With Rittich pulled for the extra attacker, Elias Lindholm tied it.
The Flyers dropped the shootout, where Matthew Tkachuk had the lone tally.
With Hayes and Jake both scoring, hopefully this is a sign that the floodgates will open for them. For Voracek, it was his 200th career NHL goal.
The Flyers play again on Monday.
