The Flyers returned to the Wells Fargo Center after their season opening victory in Prague and beat the Devils 4-0.
Carter Hard recorded his first NHL shutout while Ivan Provorov, Kevin Hayes, Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny all scored in the win.
Provorov’s powerplay goal in the first period marked the second consecutive game where the Flyers 2nd unit scored on the man advantage.
Kevin Hayes Powerplay Goal was his first in the orange and black. Sean Couturier continues to show that his offensive explosion over the past two seasons was just math happening to him and he really is an elite two way threat down the middle. Travis Konecny scored on a gift turnover from the Devils.
In a marked difference from the Dave Hakstol years, the Flyers refused to sit back on the lead, scoring 3 times in the third period to push a 1 goal lead to 4. This change in philosophy is a welcome site in the modern NHL.
Hart absolutely robbed Taylor Hall during a 5 on 3 PK in a save that will likely be replayed for the rest of the season.
The Flyers get on a plane tomorrow and head to Vancouver to play the Canucks on Saturday.
