Flyers Get Struck By Lightning 1-0

Former Flyers Farmhand Pat Maroon scored the only goal of Saturday night’s contest between the Flyers and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

He scored the goal at 7:27 of the 2nd period. It came on a broken play where a failed clear by Matt Niskanen popped the puck in the air. The Bolts settled it and tapped it past Hart. It was more of a fluke than a misplay and was enough to make the Flyers lose the game due to bad luck.

During the game, Oskar Lindblom made an appearance while out battling Ewing’s Sarcoma, a form of bone cancer. Both teams tapped their sticks for him and the Wells Fargo Center crowd gave a raucous cheer for the young forward.

Carter Hart stopped 27 of 28 shots in the loss. Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped all 23 of the Flyers shots for the shutout.

David Kase, called up for Mikhail Vorobyev, played 5 minutes on 8 shifts over the first two periods. He had no shifts in the third.

The Flyers play their next game Monday, hosting the Boston Bruins.
