The Flyers picked another defender at 72, this time taking overager Ronnie Attard from the USHL.

Attard is a big defender who blends physicality with a big shot. He’s committed to Western Michigan University and will likely need 3 years there and a year in the AHL before he’s NHL ready.

Attard is known for holding the line well and using his size effectively in the USHL.

The below quote from EliteProspects scouting report does the best job explaining him:

“He plays a hyper-aggressive rover type game that carries him all over the ice. Very rarely does he back off the line defensively, 2019″

Assuming he can skate well enough to play in the NHL and keep the scoring talent as he ascends levels, Attard seems to project like Dustin Byfuglien in a best case dream scenario.
