Flyers play the role of turkeys; get cooked by Rangers 3-0

15796155682_89f4c75b5c_zIt took just six minutes to know the Flyers annual black Friday matinee was over, as New York Rangers defenseman blasted a power play goal passed Steve Mason to give the Rags a 1-0 lead. The Broadway Blue shirts would go on to dismantle the Flyers 3-0

Martin St. Louis recorded his 1,000-career point on his second period goal, while also adding an assist on Boyle’s power play goal. Rick Nash scored his 16th of the season shorthanded while Derek Stepan was credited with three assists. Chris Kreider and Ryan McDonagh each notched one assist. Cam Talbot, making his second start of the year against the Flyers, was bored in net, as he notched the shut out, stopping all 26 Philadelphia shots.

Mason was perhaps the only positive to talk about from a dreadful Flyers performance. The goaltender stopped 21 of 24 Ranger shots and made up for a listless defensive performance. The Flyers have now dropped six of their last seven.

The Flyers appeared to have suffered from a case of too much tryptophan, as they showed nary a care. After a “players-only meeting,” the team failed to impress as the boo birds quickly came calling.

To explain how poorly the Flyers played would be doing a disservice to the fans, the Rangers, and the team itself. The Flyers have become a team that is disinterested, lacking emotion, and does not appear to care.

The Orange and Black have now lost 15 of the last 19 games to the Rangers in the regular season.
