The Flyers announced Tuesday afternoon that they have agreed to terms with UFA forward Ryan White on a one year contract extension. In true Flyers fashion, the dollar amount of the contract has not yet been announced. (UPDATE: Per Frank Seravalli, the contract is with $800,000)

After missing over half of the season while recovering from abdominal surgery in 2014-15, White returned to the Flyers and contributed 6 goals and 6 assists in 34 games.

This is another strong depth contract from Ron Hextall. With a term of just one year, White will not be on the books next summer when several key forwards are due for extensions. White is a good fourth line player who showed last season that he can move into a third line role if needed. He certainly brings more to the table than Zac Rinaldo did in a similar role. With Rinaldo shipping up to Boston, it makes sense to bring back White on a cheap contract like this one.

One other item to note here: As the Flyers continue to fill out the lineup by resigning depth forwards, it seems more and more likely that there will not be a spot for Vincent Lecavalier in next year’s lineup. No big surprise there, but with the Flyers apparently passing on an opportunity to buy Vinny out, it will be interesting to see if they can find a way to move him this summer.

Anyways, more good work by Ron Hextall in building what should be the best bottom 6 that we’ve seen here in recent years.
