Flyers skate past Devils 3-1

On a warm Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia, the Flyers made easy work of the Devils 3-1.

Travis Konecny started the scoring early, taking a feed from Shayne Gostisbehere that threaded between two New Jersey players to spring Konencky in tight on Devils goalie Keith Kinkaid. Konecny fired a wrist shot in low and beat him for his 7th goal of the season.

Five minutes later, Valtteri Filppula hammered home a feed from Michael Raffl to make it 2-0. The puck was rolled to Raffo behind the net by Radko Gudas who earned a secondary assist for starting the pretty passing play.

Ivan Provorov buried his ninth goal of the season at the 12:15 mark of the first period after he rotated in front of the net while Travis Konecny skated around offensive zone. The play knocked Keith Kinkaid out with injury, and Ken Appleby made his NHL debut.

He was welcomed to the league a few minutes later as Raffl tripped him behind the net playing the puck. The Devils John Moore asked Raffl for a fight due to the incident and Raffl obliged. They paired off and wrestled each other to the ice, each earning five minutes in the box.

The game was a bit chippy, despite no more fisticuffs as Brandon Manning took a roughing call on Stefan Noesen.

Jesper Bratt broke the shutout midway though the second with a powerplay goal as Scott Laughton sat for a high stick.

The Flyers held the lead from there on out, Michal Neuvirth played solid in his third straight appearance, second straight start.

The Flyers play in Washington tomorrow.
