Sam Bradford and DeMarco Murray got their first action of the preseason and led the Eagles to a touchdown. Bradford would sit after that series, going 3-5 for 35 yards. Ryan Mathews scored on a 14 yard run.

Ryan Mathews TD run

The drive was setup by a Walter Thurmond interception of Joe Flacco, (with an assist to Nolan Carroll) one of two picks Flacco would throw in the first quarter. The second pick was converted by Murray from two yards out and gave the Eagles a 14-0 lead.

The first team defense was not perfect as the Ravens were able to run on their first drive but not much after that as the Eagles defensive line got better against the run. The secondary continues to play well, not allowing a touchdown in the first half against the first and second teams.

Special teams continues to be a bright spot as Kenjon Barner took another punt to the house, this one 68 yards. Barner is making it really hard for Chip Kelly to not keep him.

Mark Sanchez had a better game going 14-20 for 118 yards. He had a touchdown pass wiped out by a holding penalty on Julian Vendervelde. Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow are still battling for the 3rd string QB job. and neither was very impressive. Tebow was able to get the only TD drive late in the 4th quarter but he was only 2-5 for 13 yards during his stint in the game. Barkley was 6-14 for 86 yards and no touchdowns.¬†As for injuries, Riley Cooper banged up his thumb but X-rays were negative and Chip Kelly said he was “fine” in his post game press conference.

The Eagles look pretty good so far. Next week will be the big dress rehearsal against Green Bay where we can see how they play against an elite team, albeit it in a preseason game.
