On a game after a snowfall, the Flyers looked like they could have used a snow day. Shayne Gostisbehere returned to the lineup as Michael Del Zotto and Nick Schultz were the scratches on defense. Ghost got himself onto the score sheet early as he drew an assist on Wayne Simmonds 22nd goal of the season.
Unfortunately for the Flyers, this was about the end of the list of their good things for the game. John Tavares tied the game late in the first period on a powerplay goal. Then early in the second period, a defensive miscue by the normally solid Radko Gudas sent Jason Chimera in on goal and he made it 3-1.
Gostisbehere tried to engage Brock Nelson in a fight after Nelson was knocked into Steve Mason. This led to Wayne Simmonds, 4 minutes, and Nelson, 2 minutes, getting sent to the box as Simmonds attempted to make Nelson answer for his encroachment on the Flyers goalie.
Thomas Greiss continued to stop the puck calmly. The Flyers got one last chance to tie it late with a late powerplay, but Greiss had all the answers as the Flyers fell 3-1.
