Philadelphia Phillies ICYMI Monday:11/20/17

It’s a mini Phillies ICYMI Monday this week as the only news was the signing of a new bullpen coach.

Phillies not bringing back Jim Katt? Nevermind:

That new BP coach announced Wednesday is 58 year old Jim Gott, previously the Anaheim Angels MILB pitching coordinator for the last five seasons. At the MLB level he was the Angels pitching coach from 2010-12. The link above details his 14 years of ptiching in MLB for the Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Los Angeles Dodgers. He had a career 3.87 ERA in 554 appearances.

The Phillies have still not announced a new pitching coach nor have they solidified the position of rehired Asst. Pitching Coach Rick Kranitz, so that may be something to look for this week.

The Nov. 13-16 GM Meetings in Orlando have come and gone with no real news to report.

This Week in MLB:

Today is the deadline for teams to add Rule 5 Draft eligible prospects to the 40-man roster.

The Phils currently only have 38 players on their 40-man, with the breakdown as follows, 21P, 3C, 7OF, and 7IF. They must chose at least two more from mostly 2014 college draftees, 2013 HS picks and their 2013 international FA’s, so we should see some adjustments announced today. The Rule 5 draft is 12/14.

Hopefully this week will bring some more interesting news.

Until next Monday:
