Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles vs Patriots highlights-

The Eagles traveled up to Foxboro to take on the defending Super Bowl champs. After falling down 14-0, the Patriots then tried an onside kick that the Eagles recovered. They scored a TD on the ensuing drive and after a blocked punt to end the first half, the Birds and Pats went into the half at tied at 14-14.  Malcolm Jenkins then intercepted a tipped Tom Brady pass and ran it back 99 yards for the go ahead touchdown. Darren Sproles would return a punt back for another special teams touchdown and Sam Bradford would throw a touchdown pass to Jordan Matthews to stretch the lead to 35-14. The Pats wouldn’t quit and scored two touchdowns to cut the lead to 35-28, but the Eagles defense was able to hold on and seal the win. The win puts their record at 5-7 and still in the NFC East race.

The Flyers went 1-1-1 this week, losing in a shootout to the New York Islanders, beating the St. Louis Blues and losing to the Dallas Stars.

The Stars would score the next three goals including a Jamie Benn empty netter to seal the game. The Flyers looked worn out at times but they kept battling against Dallas. Even though they couldn’t tie the game, they never gave up.

Philadelphia Phillies

The Phils traded their closer, Ken Giles and infielder Jonathan Arauz to the Houston Astros for  Vincent Velasquez, Thomas Eshelman, Harold Arauz,  Brett Oberholtzer and Mark Appel in a deal to strengthen their pitching depth and hopefully reload their system. They also picked two players in the Rule 5 draft, outfielder Tyler Goeddel and pitcher Daniel Stumpf. In another trade, the Phils and Pirates traded pitchers, with the Phils getting Charlie Morton and David Whitehead going back.

Philadelphia 76ers

The Sixers lost but their coach got a contract extension.[Brown extended-]

Plus they hired a new president of basketball operations, Jerry Colangelo. Sam Hinkie is on the clock.

That’s all for this week.
