It’s week 2 of the NFL preseason and the Eagles host the Baltimore Ravens at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday night. Kick off is at 7 P.M. and he game will be broadcast on NBC 10 locally.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Sam Bradford should be getting his first action of the preseason, but I wouldn’t expect a lengthy stay for Bradford in the game. My guess is he plays between 8 to 10 snaps and gives way to Mark Sanchez. Tim Tebow and Matt Barkley will split time again in the second half if Chip Kelly is true to form. DeMarco Murray might not be playing again as Chip seems willing to limit his carries in the preseason. Ryan Mathews and Kenyon Barner should be getting the bulk of the carries with the first/second team.
Marcus Smith will miss 2-3 weeks with a hamstring strain and should hopefully be ready for the opener against Atlanta. The first team defense should start but won’t see a ton of action as the second and third strings have roster spots to play for and no one wants an injury to a starter. The cornerbacks and safeties will be under scrutiny again as Joe Flacco and Steve Smith will test them , at least for a few plays. In injury new, Earl Wolff had surgery on his knee Thursday and was waived today by the Eagles. The roster currently sits at 88.
Overall, it should be a good test for the Birds, albeit a short one.The second preseason game is usually a quick dip for the starters and the backups come in and play a lot as the first cuts loom. Joe Flacco is a Super Bowl champion QB and the Ravens are always known for having a stout defense. Philadelphia will be waiting to see Sam Bradford’s first game action as an Eagle and hopefully, it will turn out positively.
