Sabres Cut Flyers in Half 4-2

The Flyers followed up their win against Detroit on Wednesday with a 4-2 loss to Buffalo on Friday.

The first two periods featured a lot of nothing. Brian Elliott and Robin Lehner matched each other save for save and Elliott, who has played every game since Michal Neuvirth went down with injury, didn’t show any signs of fatigue early.

In the third period, goals were finally found. Sadly for the Flyers, Buffalo got the first two as Ryan O’Reilly potted one early. Evander Kane followed up with a potentially high sticked goal later in the period putting the Flyers down two goals with less than 10 minutes to go.

With just over three minutes left, Michael Raffl jammed home his sixth goal of the season to make it 2-1. However, the hope was short lived as Jack Eichel nailed the empty net with 90 seconds to go. Shayne Gostisbehere reignited the hope drawing the Flyers to a 3-2 deficit with a bombing shot. However, Jack Eichel would seal the game with another empty net goal and gave the Sabres the 4-2 win.

Both goalies stopped 33 of 35 shots. Jake Voracek and Claude Giroux each drew the assists on both Philadelphia goals.

The Flyers finish up their pre-holiday slate tomorrow in Columbus.
