Sixers dedicate Wilt Chamberlain stamp
Coming on the heels of the Sixers getting their first win of the season, fans were in store for another treat during Friday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. At halftime the team held a ceremony to dedicate a stamp featuring the image of basketball legend and Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain. The stamp, the first one to feature an NBA player, went on sale Friday morning and includes pictures of Chamberlain with the Philadelphia Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Sixers used their state-of-the-art court imaging technology to show off the stamps for the crowd:
I would go into some of Chamberlain’s accomplishments here, but honestly, if you aren’t already familiar with just how incredible a basketball player he was, I don’t have time for you. Go read another Philly sports blog.
Goodbye Drew Gordon, Hello Malcolm Lee
And the revolving door that is the Sixers roster continues to spin.
It seems like only a few weeks ago we were welcoming Drew Gordon to the Sixers after he had spent some time with the Delaware 87ers (worst name for a basketball team ever) when the team waived Malcolm Thomas.
Well, now it’s Gordon being waived to make room for another Malcolm, this time guard Malcolm Lee. With the injuries to Tony Wroten and Alexey Shved, the team really had no choice as the great “JaKarr Sampson at point guard” experiment didn’t go that well.
Sixers shown a lot of love after getting their first win
It seemed that everyone was watching what the Sixers were doing for all the wrong reasons going into Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. So when the team managed to get their first win of the season and avoid tying the record for worst start in NBA history, a lot of people expressed their love to the team and offered congratulations, including the Philadelphia Flyers
and even Stephen A. Smith
I don’t think a single win has ever meant so much to so many people.
And that wraps up another Sixers Week in Review. As always, I leave you with you weekly dose of the Sixers Dancers for your enjoyment.
See you next Sunday.
