With Pick 112, Flyers take…

With their 4th round selection, the 112th overall pick in the draft, the Flyers selected RHD John St. Ivany, a Yale University commit.

St. Ivany played in the USHL, where his scoring rates came in slightly behind current Flyers prospect Mark Friedman.

Going to Yale, like fellow NCAA defender prospects Shayne Gostisbehere and Mark Friedman, it’s unlikely we’re talking about him before 2021-22 as a possible NHL defender.

His size is NHL ready at 6’3″ 198 and if he fills out and skate fast enough to keep up with the game he should be able to slot in eventually. His Yale career will be determinate of how he goes. For this season, it will be about measuring his NHL-E ratings from Yale to the NHL.

The Flyers current connection to Yale is goaltender Alex Lyon.
